WannaCry 2.0 Ransomeware - Ready For More Online Destruction

It was first time on Friday, May 12, 2007, when more than half the world’s computer came to standstill after attacked by ransomeware known as “WannaCry” (WannaCrypt or WCry). This ransomeware attacked about more than 57,000 computers across the world and targated Microsoft’s run PC/Laptop and ATMs. The attack is being considered as the biggest in the history and spreads by methods including phishing emails and on unpatched systems.

Soon after release of this ransomeware, an UK based researcher accidently discovered a “kill switch” hardcoded while trying to analyze the attack. Then the researcher registered on the domain which the malware seem to ping before infection. This stopped the attack as a worm and instructed malware not to proceed encrypting the files and thus make it inactive. After this, the creator of ransomeware analyze the issue and altered the code to remove the bizarre error and restarted the campaign.

On March 14, 2017, Microsoft has released a patch (MS17-010) for the security holes. Those who took the initiate and applied the patch are protected against it and those who do not are affected. Microsoft has asked to download the patch and also released security patches for unsupported versions of Windows XP, Windows 8 etc.

In the coming week, the situation can go more worse. So, one must require to download the released patches from Microsoft and update their anti-virus and malware software to keep the ransomeware attack away.

Domain & Web Hosting - Essential to Make Your Website

Gone are the days when people or business man used banners in public areas to attract customers. Now, in this digital world, internet has become the most effective mean to attract customers and increase your sale directly. But for this you need a proper website and that too is fully search engine optimized and have traffic. You can create website yourself or can hire a professional to do it for you. There are some pre-requirements to make your website visible to your customers on internet. One is Domain and other is Web hosting.

Domain Name: A domain name is address to your business on internet. Customer type your domain name and comes to your online store. This is the first requirement and it must be chose precisely according to your business. For example- if you have business of tree cutting, your domain should be www.treecutting.com. It should reflect your main business goal. You can buy domain from Go Daddy or any other better domain selling website. By visit Go Daddy, you can register yourself as a business on the internet. Like we book a land before construction. Go Daddy acts a registrar. It has option to book your domain for around 5 years. If you are experienced enough , you can opt for this or you can go for one year plan. Applying a coupon code enables you to get a discount on your purchased domain.

Web Hosting: After registration of domain name, you need some space on internet to put your files and this process comes under web hosting. Although, Go Daddy gives web hosting services but I recommend you to go for some better hosting platform provided by Hostgator.com or Bluehost.com. Both these companies give excellent hosting package and at good price. Though you can choose a much cheaper option too, but for stability and other security reasons, opting for cheaper option can be dangerous.

Linking Domain Name with Hosting Account:

On sign up with the hosting company, you will receive an email and you need to keep that email safe from other people. It contains some extremely useful information including:

1. Domain Name.
2. User Name and Password for your FTP client.
3. Domain Name Servers (DNS) for your hosting accounts.

FTP: It stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is used to upload your website files on internet.

Linking a DNS To Go Daddy account:

When you buy hosting from different account other than Go Daddy, you need to set up it. Below are the steps to setup:

1. Login to Go Daddy account.
2. Click on My account.
3. Look for “Domains” and click it.
4. Check the box next to your domain name.
5. Click Name Server and click set name server.
6. Choose “I have specific name server for my domain”.
7. Replace name server 1 and 2 with the given name servers in email.
8. Click ok and finish.
9. It will take an hour or two to update name server.

Now finally all is set to create user website. You can use some website editor that can help you. You can free website editor called Kompozer which is free.
